Optimise Mesh

This dialog allows the user to interactively reduce the number of vertices in the exported mesh.  The user is provided with visual feedback by the preview.  This enables the user to see the effect of the optimisation.  You may move the camera around in the 3d preview around and zoom in and out, see the terrain editor dialog for a description of controls.

When the export is pressed the mesh is exported at the number of vertices specified in the Number of vertices edit box.

This dialog can be pinned  open by clicking on the pin icon at the bottom of the dialog, which stops the dialog closing when the export button is pressed and allows the user to export the same mesh at different levels of detail quickly.

Optimisation

Optimisation slider: Allow control over the number of vertices in the preview. It is initially set to export at 10% of the total number of vertices.

Number of vertices: shows the number of vertices currently showing in the preview.  Type in a number to set the number of vertices.

Wireframe:  when checked shows the terrain in wireframe mode, when unchecked the terrain texture is shown in the 3d preview.

Base Name: the name the tiles use to append numbers to for the exported files.

Output folder: the folder the exported files will go into.

Texture file type: select which file type the tile textures will be exported to.

Mesh Type: select the desired output mesh type.

Texture Resolution X and Y: specify the resolution of the texture files per tiles.

Output Normals: place vertex normal information into the exported mesh files, if supported.

View Mode

The user may view the entire terrain or see individual tiles.  Showing all the tiles is the default viewing mode, but for large exports the view may default to the single tile mode.

All Tiles:  Shows all the tiles in the preview.

Single Tile: Shows the tile specified by the Tile X and Tile Y edit box values.
